Over the years the television industry has grown to be one of the largest industries in the world today, massing millions of tons of recorded material on numerous different formats. Once the recorded material is no longer required companies are faced with the dilemma of disposing of the redundant tape. With copyright protection and increasing landfill charges most companies end up leaving unwanted tape in storage as it is cheaper and more convenient in the short term. This is a false economy as in the long term more and more unwanted tape is stored leaving you with an even larger problem and costlier storage charges.

Tapes UK offer a tape disposal service that not only gives you peace of mind where the copyright is concerned but in the long term is financially cheaper.

Tapes UK are FACT (Federation against Copyright Theft) accredited. Therefore you can rest assured your copyright material will be in safe hands. Once Tapes UK have collected your tapes they are sorted into their formats, brands and durations and then degaussed so all recordable material is erased.

We can dispose of most formats of recordable media ranging from 1” and 2” reels through to the latest Betacam and HD formats. We try to limit the amount of waste sent to landfill. All of the Betacam SP, digital Betacam DVcam, DVCpro and HDcam is all cleaned, erased and evaluated for re-use either by our own tape evaluation department or sent on to other tape recycling companies throughout the world so they can evaluated the tape for re-use in their own countries.
All other waste material such as VHS, Hi8 Dats , CD/DVD and backup tapes etc are sent to a plastic recycling plant where it is processed into raw material.

We still purchase used Betacam SP, digital Betacam and DVCam in most brands and durations. All other formats we charge a fee for erase and disposal.
